Carterton Win again against a quick Wallingford team
By Philip Godfrey
Great game of football marred by ugly scenes at the end of the match.
Carterton started fresh with Dylan Butler
scoring a poachers goal early on after the Wallingford keeper fumbled a back pass. Wallingford looked very sharp going forward with their midfield breaking through only to be denied by Carterton keeper Reece Hayes
. An injury to Byron Townsend
the engine of Cartertons midfield saw him withdrawn enabling Wallingford to find gaps and pressed Cartertons back four constantly. In the 39th minute Carterton's Jay Haydon
produced some skillful footwork to skip past two players to produce a perfect through ball to top goal scorer Dylan Butler
to slot home . Wallingford replied with a well taken goal shortly afterwards that the Carterton Keeper had no chance with. Cartertons Dylan Butler
went on to also hit the post before a goal mouth scramble led to a loose ball for Joseph Langdon
to blast in from 6 yards. Carterton were struggling with the fast pace of Wallingford's forwards so a reshuffle at half time with Jay Revill
dropping into the back four seemed to nullify the threat. Carterton's Marcus Owsnett
had multiple chances to finish the game off but failed to find the net when he finally got his reward for all his tireless running with a goal in the 71st minute. Wallingford then had a player sent off for a second yellow yet still pressed and replied with another quality goal . Carterton went to five in midfield with lone striker Dylan Butler
up front to control the game with Carterton finally coming out winners. A great game of football marred by ugly scenes after the match which Referee Paul Herbert did very well to control.
